Passenger numbers peaked on 28 December as holiday travel surged through Bristol Airport.

Bristol Airport handled its busiest day of the year on Saturday 28 December, as thousands of passengers travelled home or departed for post-Christmas holidays.
The spike matters for anyone flying in the coming days, or travelling near the airport, because it gives a clear signal of continued pressure on access roads, car parks, and early-morning services during the festive period.
Airport figures show passenger volumes well above an average winter weekend, with European city breaks and winter sun destinations proving especially popular. The busiest periods were reported in the early morning and late afternoon, when outbound and inbound flights overlapped.
For Bristol residents, the impact is felt beyond the terminal. The A38 and surrounding roads experienced heavier traffic at peak times, while airport bus services were running at high capacity. Short-notice parking availability was also more limited than usual, particularly for short-stay options.
Travellers with upcoming flights are being advised to allow extra time for journeys, consider public transport where possible, and pre-book parking. Those meeting arriving passengers may also want to check live flight information, as congestion can affect pick-up times even when flights are on schedule.
Passenger numbers are expected to remain elevated into the New Year, before easing back later in January. The airport has said it will continue to monitor demand and staffing levels over the holiday period.
