Driver arrested after fail-to-stop collision injures woman in south Bristol

A woman has been arrested after a pedestrian was struck by a car in the Hartcliffe area of Bristol on Saturday and the driver initially failed to stop at the scene.

Emergency services were called to Fulford Road at around 12.20pm on Saturday 11 April following a collision between a car and a pedestrian. The woman who was struck was taken to hospital, though her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The car, described as a blue Mini Cooper, was not present when officers arrived at the scene. A vehicle matching that description was subsequently located by officers in Whitland Road, approximately one hour after the collision was reported.

A 37-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on bail. The investigation remains open and no charges have been confirmed at this stage.

Police are now seeking witnesses and dashcam footage to support their enquiries. Hartcliffe is a residential neighbourhood in south Bristol, and Fulford Road runs through a part of the area used regularly by pedestrians and local traffic on weekend afternoons.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of Fulford Road or Whitland Road around midday on Saturday 11 April, or who has relevant dashcam footage from either road, is asked to contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101 quoting reference 5226098855. The investigation is ongoing and the circumstances of the collision have not been fully confirmed by police.
