Teen cyclist in hospital after Airport Road crash in Hengrove

A teenage cyclist remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision with a car on Airport Road in Hengrove, police said.

Avon and Somerset Police said the crash was reported to emergency services at 11.11pm on Friday 23 January. The collision involved a cyclist and a car being driven on Airport Road. The teenager was taken to hospital and remains there, with officers saying his family are being kept updated.

Police said no other injuries were reported. The driver of the car stayed at the scene and spoke with officers as part of their initial enquiries.

Airport Road was closed while emergency services responded and officers carried out initial work at the scene, according to police. The road reopened earlier on Saturday morning.

Officers are now asking anyone who saw the collision, or who may have relevant dashcam footage from the area at the time, to come forward. Police said witnesses can contact them by calling 101 and quoting reference number 5226021255.

The force has not released further details about the circumstances leading to the crash, and there has been no public statement about any arrests or charges connected to the incident.
