Avon and Somerset Police have issued a CCTV appeal after an assault in Bristol city centre which they say left a man needing hospital treatment.

In a statement published on Thursday 19 February, the force said the incident happened in All Saints Lane at about 3.35am to 3.40am on Sunday 5 October. Police said the victim, described as a man in his 50s, was punched in the face and suffered facial injuries requiring hospital care.

Officers said they are now releasing images of a man they want to speak to as part of the investigation. The force did not say the man pictured is suspected of an offence, but stated they believe speaking to him could help their enquiries.

Avon and Somerset Police provided a description of the person they say was involved in the assault: white, slim, with short hair and facial hair, wearing a red and black jacket, black trainers and a backpack at the time. The force said the man left the scene after the incident.

The appeal comes several months after the reported assault, suggesting police enquiries have continued without identifying who they want to speak to. The statement does not mention any ongoing disruption in the area, and no wider warning to the public was included.

For city-centre residents and late-night workers, the confirmed detail is limited to the reported time, place and injury outcome, as set out by the force. Police have asked anyone who recognises the man in the images, or has information, to contact them quoting the incident reference included in their appeal.
